How do I sign up for a 2008 CSA share and what is it?
Logistics
Two 12-week seasons of fresh produce are offered, with pick up every week, Spring/summer from May 7 to August 2, and Summer/Fall from August 5 to October 25.

Shares may be picked up on the farm on Wednesday from 10 am until 7 pm or Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm. Shareholders must choose a day for pick up and remain with that day for the season. Please make arrangements with a friend, relative or neighbor to pick up your share if you are not able to pick up on your day. A list of people willing to buy your share for a week will be available if there is enough interest.

You will receive approximately 10 different items each week. Shares will be lighter when greens and lettuce are abundant and weigh more later in the season with squashes and tomatoes. Herbs are always available on a pick your own basis. This year you may choose to receive flowers in your share or not, or you may choose to subscribe only for flowers. Examples of boxes from previous years may be viewed on the Web site.

Each week you will receive an e-newsletter letting you know the contents of your share, news of the farm, recipes, and information about some of the vegetables. The e-newsletter will be sent out the night before your pick up day.

Feel free to tell friends, relatives, and neighbors about the Cane Creek Farm CSA program. Shares generally sell out, so sign up early in the year to insure your spot. Click here to download our CSA brochure, which can be printed out and shared.

Worker Shares
We are offering a few worker shares again this year for people who would like to exchange work for vegetables. Workers must agree to work for a full 12 week season in exchange for a 12 week season of vegetables and flowers. Workers must be available for 4 hours on either Tuesday or Friday morning every week of the season. Potential workers must be in good physical condition and able to handle strenuous exercise. Please call (770) 889-3793 to schedule an on-farm interview if you are interested in this option.

Payment
Please send full payment with your application. You may pay by check or credit card, following the instructions under the headline, "Sign Up Today!" on this page. If you need to pay by installments, please call to make arrangements.

Shareholders are accepted on a first paid/first served basis.

What Crops Can I Expect?

The Spring/Summer season will start with crisp cool season vegetables, such as peas, broccoli, lettuce, green onions, greens, strawberries, and potatoes. By the end of the season, other delicious crops, like tomatoes, okra, squash, and corn, will have begun their harvest.

The Summer/Fall season will begin with luscious berries and fresh tomatoes, okra, squash, and corn. Toward the end of the season, it will feature a different set of produce, including sweet potatoes, turnip greens, winter squash, and the like.

Each week fresh herbs will be freely available to subscribers on a pick your own basis at the farm, and you have the option of buying a share which will include a bouquet of flowers each week. A newsletter will tell you what is going on at the farm, how the crops are doing and will give you a recipe for some of the produce in your share that week. Each year brings a unique pattern of sun and rain, so predicting exact harvest dates or amounts is not possible.
