Lynn Pugh

Cane Creek Farm is a realization of a dream Lynn Pugh has had for many years - to live a more sustainable lifestyle, surrounded by a community of people interested in the same pursuit. Lynn gardened on a small scale as she taught science in high school and college for 18 years and as she and Chuck, her husband raised their family. As the children went off to their own productive lives, Lynn turned back to their land and slowly established a farm to produce fruits, vegetables, herbs, flowers and future farmers. First came the produce, as she learned to grow on a larger scale using the same organic, sustainable practices as in her garden plus many more. Her decision to sell the produce through a Community Supported Agriculture program has shaped the community of people involved with the farm. Her connections with Georgia Organics in production of a marketing manual and curriculum on Organic Growing have benefited the farm greatly. From this association she started the Organic Growing Classes and got to meet and teach some of the most amazing students. She continues to consult with some of these students as they develop their own farms and does some other consulting work, as time permits. Lynn’s education background, BS in biology and chemistry, MS in plant pathology and EdS in science curriculum have given her the foundation to make informed decisions about the farm and help others learn the scientific fundamentals of agriculture. As the farm grows and changes each year, the core value of developing a sustainable farm to nurture the life of her family and community remains strong.
